About me
I grew up in a family of twelve, playing outside all summer long seeing who could climb highest in the apple tree, finding secret pathways between our neighbors homes, going on archeological digs in the alleyways of our city, returning home at the sound of our liberty replica dinner bell. At about six I asked my Mom if she could teach me how to garden, and to my delight, she let me tend a colorful patch of zinnias and four o'clocks from seeds to bloom!
To this day, I am crazy about gardening and being outside. Fowers, leaves, bugs and butterflies, birds, landscape, vistas, weather, atmosphere, all capture my attention and fuel my work...sometimes realistically rendered, but just as often, impressions built with colors, dots, and textures. I want my art to feel lush and generous, to celebrate the mysteries in our tamed and wild gardens. I am told my paintings make people feel happy, and that makes me happy. MY MUSES the magic of my childhood Matisse & Bonnard my flower garden the countryside my dogs Pu, Chamois, Tully, and Lulu.
I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. My work is collected and commissioned worldwide. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Oregon State University.

I have several of Carrie Tasman's luscious and beautifully personal artworks in my home. The simple complexity of color and movement are amusing and fresh, even after years of holding my gaze."

my Favorite paint holder
(Here are the things I use everyday to make art!
Graham Acrylic Paints, I love the consistency and high pigment load, I'm also starting to buy Sennelier (nice and rich), Holbein and Golden Fluid acrylics.
Cheap brushes from Michaels - I've bought expensive brushes, and I like these just as much.
American Easel Panels Made in Salem, Oregon, just north of me! The best! Consistent quality, sturdy, and smooth.
Cheap towels from goodwill cut into squares for cleaning my brushes as I work
Organic Guatemalan coffee from Pacifica Coffee roaster in Corvallis, THE BEST!
Epson SureColor p600 printer. Great Fine Art Print "giclee" printer, archival inks.
Red River Paper
Acryla-Miser Palette - I lay out my palette once every few weeks or so. This palette enables me to keep a nice blob of acrylic hydrated and usable for about 2-3 weeks. I usually use the paint up by then, and switch everything out. Clean well when changing out the colors.
